The City of London Corporation is inviting architects to tender for a £12m design contract for a "state-of-the-art" Centre for Music, including a world-class concert hall, on the Museum of London site next to the Barbican. The project, which is being led by the Barbican, the London Symphony Orchestra (LSO) and the Guildhall School of Music & Drama, was resurrected in January, shortly after the government withdrew its support, claiming it no longer represented “value for money”.
