Patron quits due to festival’s refusal to pay artists
Author Philip Pullman, who is president of the Society of Authors, has resigned as a patron of Oxford Literary Festival, pointing to their refusal to pay speakers. The festival said paying authors would mean its programme could not be so “large and diverse”.
Because of the Oxford Literary Festival's attitude to paying speakers (they don't) I can't remain as a Patron any longer. I've resigned.
