Belgrade Theatre in Coventry has been awarded the Creative Apprentice Employer of the Year 2012 award by the National Skills Academy, in recognition of its apprenticeship scheme. The scheme was launched in 2011 in partnership with Stratford-upon-Avon College and Heart of England Training. It currently employs seven apprentices, who over 11 months will work towards a qualification in theatre operations, wardrobe, lighting or community arts.

Public liability risk faced by charities is the subject of a new report by charity insurance provider Ecclesiastical. Supported by the Charity Finance Group, the report responds to the increase in public liability claims brought against charities over the last few years. The company has also produced two guides to public liability insurance, on how to reduce public liability risk and what to do if a liability claim is filed against your charity. London Creativity and Wellbeing Week, a new initiative launched by London Arts and Health Forum, will take place from 13 to 20 June, across the Greater London area. Offering tours and exhibitions, talks, seminars, workshops and networking opportunities, it aims to showcase existing arts and health initiatives, bring people together to discuss issues and educate those new to the sector about how creativity can affect health.

Theatre Royal Stratford East is the first UK theatre to launch a Facebook ticketing application. Developed in conjunction with Ticketsolve and Ultimate Concept Marketing, it allows customers to purchase tickets for the theatre’s shows directly through Facebook and lets their friends know as they do so. The application is the latest step in the theatre’s digital media development; it launched a Tweet Zone in Spring 2011 and also live streams its post-show discussions.

One thousand emerging creatives from 100 nations have been selected to take part in World Event Young Artists, a new 10-day international arts festival that will launch on 7 September across the city of Nottingham. Artists aged 18–30, representing every artform, were selected by independent panels in each partner nation to showcase a piece of work at the festival. Choreographer, director and dancer Akram Khan said: “Bringing together these art forms from so many countries is exciting and will inspire some extraordinary creative collaborations.”
