Visiting Arts has re-launched its Scotland Cultural Profile website. Aimed primarily at encouraging cultural exchanges involving Scotland, the website offers a one stop shop for information and resources relating to Scotlands cultural sector, including a database of over 5,000 key arts, media, heritage and other contacts. It also covers local authority provision for arts and culture in Scotland, permitting users to see how these authorities manage the cultural resources under their control.

A contemporary art scheme aimed at discouraging graffiti and vandalism, has been commissioned by Platform for Art, London Undergrounds art programme and Transport for Londons Crime & Disorder Partnership Unit. The Museums Association has updated its original guidelines into levels of pay across the sector, which it hopes will be used to set starting salaries for museums posts and as an advocacy tool to raise the issue of pay with employers and funding bodies. A salary survey will be conducted in late 2008 to assess the impact of the guidelines on museums pay levels.

Delivering ArtsProfessional

Many thanks to everyone who took part in our recent action research study to compare the effectiveness of distributing ArtsProfessional via Royal Mail and mailing consolidator, Target Post. For those arts marketers who are looking at ways to maximise budgets for direct mail campaigns, the evidence you provided to us shows that the consolidator provided a comparable if not slightly better service than Royal Mail when it comes to ensuring prompt delivery. Congratulations to the winner of the £25 Amazon voucher, Andrew Cronshaw.

As a reminder during any future Royal Mail strike days, whilst we will endeavour to ensure the printed magazine continues to arrive in a timely manner, ArtsProfessional is available online to subscribers from the Thursday prior to Monday publication dates. Recruitment advertisements are available to all on the web until their closing dates, and are also distributed with APe-mail, our fortnightly email bulletin, which is delivered free of charge on the Tuesday prior to Monday publication dates.
