National Gallery plans to expand its premises

Director Gabriele Finaldi said the gallery plans to take over an adjacent office block – currently home to a hotel, a cinema and an Indian restaurant – because it now has 50% more visitors than a generation ago, while the floor space “hasn’t actually changed”.
