Annual data on DCMS sponsored sites confirms a decimation of visitor figures since the pandemic hit the UK.

Fifteen museums and galleries have welcomed a total of 4,190,200 visitors since March 2020.

In the 2018/19 year, they welcomed 49,764,941 people – more than 10 times the visitor numbers in 2020/21.

Although the financial year is not yet over, there is no hope of the figure improving as museums will remain closed until at least May 17.
