The Lowry arts centre in Salford will host trials in three temporary courtrooms during the daytime - two in the venue's smaller auditoria, the Quays and the Studio, and one in a conference suite.

The court booking is part of a Ministry of Justice drive to clear the current backlog of cases.

Revenues from the court deal will enable the Lowry to stage shows on its main stage in the evenings over Christmas, and open its galleries again.
