The Guardian has published claims the founder of theatre company Out of Joint, Max Stafford-Clark, engaged in inappropriate and sexualised behaviour, and revealed that he was forced to leave the organisation following a formal complaint by a member of staff. A spokesperson for Stafford-Clark – also the former Artistic Director of the Royal Court – said the director had suffered from the “occasional loss of the ability to inhibit urges” after a stroke in 2006, but added this “isn’t an attempt to dismiss his behaviour and he apologises for any offence caused”.
