Lottery shortfall squeezes out major capital projects

Falling Lottery revenues and policy changes favouring regional venues and smaller projects have led to more museums and galleries being rejected for large capital grants from the Heritage Lottery Fund (HLF). Awards of over £5m have been suspended for this year.
