John Whittingdale accused of interfering in gallery trustee selection

The Culture Secretary ordered the selection process for a new trustee at the National Portrait Gallery to be re-run after the five candidates he endorsed – three of whom were Tory donors and one of whom was a former Conservative minister – failed to make the shortlist.
