Glastonbury town project to fund new arts centre

Glastonbury town is set to complete work on an arts and music hub as part of a project to regenerate the local area.

The Red Brick Building will offer facilities to artists and musicians and a home to the local radio station.

The proposal is one of 12 Mendip District Council will pursue following a successful grant from the Government's Towns Fund.

All plans will go ahead despite the grant being £1m less than requested. A 3.6% budget cut to each project will accommodate the shortfall.

"With regeneration and sustainability at the very heart of the plan, it is only right that all of our ambitions for the town are realised, albeit with nominal budget cuts," Glastonbury Mayor Jon Cousins said.
