Glasgow theatre launches £5 ticket scheme for locals ahead of delayed reopening
The Citizens Theatre in Glasgow will make tickets available to local residents for £5 ahead of its reopening in August.
People with a G5 postcode will be eligible for the offer through a Gorbals Pass, which will also provide food and drink discounts.
The theatre is also offering discounts to people under 30, as well as those on low incomes or with access requirements.
The theatre closed for redevelopment in 2018 and was expected to reopen in November last year – but a report by its owner Glasgow City Council in June revealed that extra funds were needed.
In December, the Scottish government stepped in to plug an £8m funding shortfall.
The theatre now plans to reopen in August. Tickets for the first productions will go on sale at the end of this month.
