Henley Festival's Summer Fling will not go ahead, organisers have announced, citing Monday's announcement.

The event was planned for July 8 to 10: "We are all incredibly disappointed but we have to comply with government regulations and the safety of our guests and the wider public has always been our priority," CEO Jo Bausor said.

However, she said a September festival featuring Madness, James Blunt, Sophie Ellis-Bextor and Kathy Sledge of Sister Sledge remains on the cards.

The July event was intended as a fund raiser for the main festival, which normally takes place that weekend but has been rescheduled for September as a precaution.

Henley Festival, the UK's only black-tie festival, has been running for 38 years.
