The Government is increasing tax-free bursaries to encourage graduates to begin teacher training in “key subjects”, including maths, physics, chemistry, computing or languages. Music is the only arts subject included in the scheme. The bursary value has been upheld but will be limited to graduates who achieve a 2:1 or higher.
