Edinburgh’s festivals protected from £36m budget cuts

Council leaders in Edinburgh are prioritising the city’s festivals during funding cuts because of the economic, social and cultural value which they bring.  City culture leader Richard Lewis said cuts had been ruled out on principle due to the performance of the events and their shielding-effect on economic downturn in recent years.
