Council condemned for selling off museum treasure

Northampton Borough Council sold an Egyptian statue from the collection of Northampton Museum and Art Gallery for almost £16m at auction. The sale went ahead despite wide-spread condemnation and a warning from Arts Council England that the museum could lose its accreditation status.
