Campaigners move to protect Southbank Centre skateboard area from venue’s extension plans

Supporters of the campaign to maintain the skaters’ area underneath the Southbank Centre, which is threatened by the venue’s planned extension, have applied to Lambeth Council to protect the area under ‘town and village green’ legislation. This allows land to be registered if it has been used "as of right" for recreational purposes for the preceding 20 years.
