Call for Southbank Centre to cut ties with oil giant
A letter signed by 21 artists who perform at the centre has expressed concern over the reputational damage the relationship with Shell is causing the arts organisation. This follows the 18th anniversary of the execution of Ken Saro Wiwa, a Nigerian writer who protested over alleged environmental and human rights issues in Shell’s operations in the Niger Delta; one of the artists has said the sponsorship is “blood money”.
