BBC4, the channel for archived arts content, cannot survive another round of funding cuts, insiders say.

The corporation is considering what its future might look like once the licence fee is frozen and then cut altogether.

An increasing proportion of its arts programming is archival, and is now shown on BBC4 following a restructure in early 2020.

BBC2, for which investment in new arts and music content will double by 2023, is expected to survive, though no decisions have yet been made.
