Arts and creative industries workers are the most likely still to be on the furlough scheme.

New figures from HMRC show staff in the sector are the biggest users of the scheme, which ends in September.

The number of workers on furlough has declined to 1.9 million - its lowest level since it began. The sudden fall from 2.5 million came last month when employers had to start paying towards the scheme.

Critics say another 10% cut at the beginning of August could force businesses into insolvency.
