Gig theatre company Middle Child has launched a new artist development programme in Hull.

The ‘Recover, Restart and Reimagine’ programme offers 13 freelance theatre workers an opportunity to explore creative ideas without the pressure of creating finished work.

The three-week programme will be split between organised activities and self-led time.

Artistic Director Paul Smith said the programme was radical for its investment in “people rather than projects”.

“It’s designed to rebuild confidence, develop skills and take stock, in a safe space which acknowledges what we’ve been through and the impact it has had on our work and our practices,” he added.
