A new arts centre for Inverclyde (pictured) will be opened in a brand new building close to the historic East India Harbour. The new development will provide a 500-seat main auditorium alongside a 130-seat studio theatre and several multi-purpose rehearsal and conference rooms, together with a waterfront café/ bar and bistro. The project, managed by The Greenock Arts Guild, will form part of the redevelopment of the waterfront, hosting a leisure complex, Customhouse and new marinas.

Elliott McKelvie of the Greenock Arts Guild commented, The Arts Guild theatre has been the backbone of arts provision in the Inverclyde area for more than 60 years. Relocating our business to a new building offers a much more visible and central location which will undoubtedly enhance the potential to grow our audience within the community. Inverclyde Council has approved a further £2m funding to the project and a fundraising programme has been launched to raise the additional money required.
