The English National Opera Orchestra (pictured) has been awarded a Healthy Orchestra Charter Mark in recognition of good practice relating to the physical, mental and emotional health of its musicians. A joint initiative by the Association of British Orchestras and the Musicians Benevolent Fund, the Charter sets a range of targets, from providing access to drinking water during rehearsals to setting up a noise team to help to prevent hearing loss.

Orchestras across the UK are being encouraged to progress through three levels of competence, and the ENO Orchestra joins BBC Symphony Orchestra, Bournemouth Symphony Orchestra, Royal Opera House and Royal Northern College of Music, all of whom have achieved the bronze level award.
