Young people and children in care will receive free music lessons as part of the planned legislation in the governments White Paper, Care Matters: Time for Change. The initiative forms part of a wider move aimed at providing a better service to those in care and builds upon the conclusions of the White Paper and those of four working groups established to investigate best practice in supporting young people in care.
A number of youth charities and music organisations are currently working with the National Childrens Bureau in the early stages of bidding for funds to pilot this scheme.
