New TIE/TYP agency for Wales
Eight of the longest established Theatre In Education/Theatre for Young People companies in Wales have joined forces to form the National Agency of Wales for Theatre for Young People. The new organisation will provide the legal framework for a more effective co-operation between the companies, and enable them to pursue better their shared aims of promoting TIE/TYP in Wales.
The companies involved are Arad Goch, Clwyd Theatr Cymru Theatre for Young People, Cwmni’r Fran Wen, Gwent Theatre, Theatr na n’Og, Theatr Powys, Theatr Iolo and Spectacle Theatre, whose production of The Lazy Ant (pictured) was last year voted ‘best production’ at the Shanghai International Children’s Theatre Festival. Last year, the eight companies generated 56 productions, 1,840 performances, 1,936 workshops, 1,598 school visits and 151,831 attendances.
