New Momentum for pop artists

A £500k fund providing seed corn investment to pop artists and bands has been launched by PRS for Music, which was chosen to deliver the project on behalf of Arts Council England. ‘Momentum’ will allocate grants of between £5k and £15k to as many as 75 bands and artists over the next two years. ‘Emerging’ bands and those at a pivotal stage in their careers will be eligible for funding, which will depend on a valid business case being presented. BBC Radio will be championing Momentum across their national and digital stations, promoting funding deadlines and signposting successful recipients. The first group of funded artists will be announced in early August 2013.
