A Creative Speed Dating event at the Tacchi-Morris Arts Centre in Taunton saw 35 hopeful ‘daters’ arrive ready to find their perfect match, including theatre makers, fashion designers, artists, composers, musicians, venue managers, dancers, choreographers and teachers. Billed as helping those working in the sector find others with whom to forge partnerships for creative work, the event permitted three-minute dates to enable participants to get a flavour of what each partner might be interested in, and initiate interesting conversations to be followed up. The evening was compered by Mark Helyar from Take Art, who prompted attenders to start their match-making conversations by asking “What do you want? What’s your passion? Why are you here?” Participants reported a stimulating evening. One commented: “I have forged some valuable links which will genuinely support me in developing some new and exciting strands to my work.” And another said: “One of my matches really helped me work out how to tour my play in 2013 – the advice and support was priceless.”
