Perth and Kinross Council has expressed interest in a merger between Horsecross Arts and Culture Perth and Kinross, which have both been directed to save a total of £144k over the next three years. A final recommendation is expected in November.

Government plans to increase the cost of National Insurance payments to access state benefits – including maternity allowance – for those earning less than £6,205 a year have been ditched. The membership body said the move was “excellent” for arts workers.

The Centre for Contemporary Arts has been closed since fire ravaged the Art School in mid-June and has not yet had a reopening date confirmed. The centre says the “indefinite closure” makes planning difficult and the lack of commercial income has forced cash flow “down to a minimum”.
