The Hastings-based Jerwood Gallery, one of Arts Council England’s National Portfolio Organisations, will have to give up the Jerwood Collection of almost 300 works of modern and contemporary British art, after the Jerwood Foundation announced that a funding agreement that has been in place since 2012 will end this year. Producers behind the project say Space 18 will be spread over 42,000 square feet, comprising seven buildings and more than 200 rooms across 35 floors. It is anticipated that the multi-million-pound venue will have a nightclub, five bars and a maximum capacity of 15,000 audience members.

West Somerset Council has granted a loan to community group The Onion Collective to create an arts, cultural and social enterprise development at Watchet’s East Quay. The project, estimated to cost a total of £7m, will transform the location into a two-storey structure with a restaurant, art gallery, and self-catering holiday pods.
