The London Symphony Orchestra’s work in hospitals, the South London Gallery’s work with Ernst and Young to help local schools organise their own exhibition and UBS’s support for ‘Circus Space’ (pictured) were all celebrated at the 31st Arts & Business (A&B) Awards last week. Other winners include Ferry van Diijk, who won Board Member of the Year for his work with Hoxton Hall, and the Royal Opera House and Deloitte LLP’s ‘Ignite’ contemporary arts festival. The Prince of Wales Medals for Arts Philanthropy have also been presented by Prince Charles, who is President of A&B. This year, the medals were awarded to Michael and Dorothy Hintze, Keith Howard, Donald MacDonald CBE and Louise MacDonald, Mary Weston CBE and Sir John Zochonis. Lady Solti received the Goodman Award for her contribution to the arts, including work with Sadler’s Wells Trust, the Mariinsky Theatre Trust, the Chicago Symphony Orchestra, the Liszt Academy, Budapest and the Friends of the London Philharmonic Orchestra.
