UK arts organisations’ applications for funding from the EU’s Culture Programme enjoyed the highest success rates of any country, according to new figures from Visiting Arts, the EU Cultural Contact Point in the UK. The overall success rate of UK applications in ‘Strand 1’ was 50% compared to 31% in France, 21% in Italy, 39% in Germany, 43% in Spain and zero in Poland. The average success rate was 33%. Strand 1 funds ‘big’ co-operation projects, and the successful UK applicants include Guildhall School of Music and Drama, and Aldeburgh Music and the Britten-Pears Programme.
