Community sharing

The Arts Council of Northern Ireland has announced the relaunch of the ‘Re-Imagining Communities Programme’, on behalf of the Shared Communities Consortium. This arts-led community regeneration programme, which funds projects to tackle visible signs of sectarianism and racism, was so oversubscribed that it had to close prematurely in the summer. £500,000 of new funding from the Department of Culture, Arts and Leisure has ensured that it will continue into 2009. Evaluation of its initial phase highlighted a number of areas that did not apply to participate, and these will be priorities for the new funding.
