Apprenticeships, leadership skills, professional development, business knowledge and research are among programmes which will be promoted by the sector skills council, Creative and Cultural Skills (CCSkills), according to two new national Creative Blueprints. The plans aim to boost the creative industries in Wales and Northern Ireland, adding to the process begun in July with the launch of the Creative Blueprint for England. They offer each UK nation “action that aims to transform and enhance the education, training and development of the workforce”. A plan for Scotland will be launched in early 2009. Launching the Wales plan, Tom Bewick, Chief Executive of CCSkills, said, “This action plan is employer-driven and therefore entirely employer focused,” and added that “there still isn’t a clear progression route for those entering the industries”.
