An international programme showcasing the work of world-renowned dance companies is set to secure Birmingham’s position in the international dance calendar with the announcement of the city’s inaugural International Dance Festival next year.
A joint venture between DanceXchange and Birmingham Hippodrome, the month-long festival will take place between 28 April and 24 May next year, at venues including Birmingham Rep, the Town Hall, the Hippodrome, IKON Gallery’s Eastside venue and The Mailbox. The event will feature some of the world’s greatest choreographers and encompass all styles of dance, involving companies such as the Kirov Ballet and Cloud Gate Dance Theatre of Taiwan (pictured), as well as specially choreographed commissions and large-scale participatory and site-specific performances.
