Financial sustainability can be achieved by creating a permanent home for a vocational arts college.

North Finchley venue artsdepot has made a move to secure its future by inviting higher education vocational arts college London Studio Centre to take up permanent residency. The move will help to create a sustainable financial future for artsdepot after it faced closure in 2011 following the removal of all local authority support. London Studio Centre, which moved from its York Way studios after 26 years due to the Kings Cross area redevelopment, has had 200 first and second year students temporarily based at the venue since the beginning of the 2012/13 academic year and from September, third-years will join them. The partnership is projected to add £4m of annual spending to the Barnet area. Tracy Cooper, Chief Executive of artsdepot, said the effect of cuts had been ‘paralysing’ for many arts venues, but said the partnership “affords artsdepot the security to plan for the future.”
