A call for artists to make proposals for a creative project situated anywhere in Britain’s public forests estate will offer 30k to make a commissioned idea become reality. A partnership between the Forestry Commission and Jerwood Visual Art has been launched to enable the Jerwood Open Forest commission to explore the potential of forests as sites for art. Five artists will be chosen to each receive a £2,000 development grant to expand their ideas and explore their viability over a six-month period, which will culminate in an exhibition of artist’s proposals at JVA Jerwood Space, during which the artist receiving the £30k commission will be announced. With no brief, the projects considered could be permanent or could travel, and could exist in any medium.
