The Art House

A 14-year vision of a founding group of disabled artists to provide a fully accessible centre for professional visual artists has culminated in the opening of The Art House in Wakefield by Culture Secretary Andy Burnham.

Supporting the practice of professional artists both with and without disabilities, the new £3m facility offers a combination of spacious studios and technician support, as well as workspace and accommodation for short-term residencies. It already has a catalogue of major projects, including its current residency project ‘Space for 10’, working with high-profile galleries including Kettle’s Yard, Arnolfini and Spike Island, and Northern Gallery For Contemporary Arts.
