ACE invests £3m in nurturing young arts film-makers
A new phase of Arts Council England’s partnership with Channel 4 will see arts organisations establish film development ‘network centres’ around the country.
Five arts organisations will get the chance to help young film-makers produce content for Channel 4’s artist-made short film scheme Random Acts. In a new phase of a partnership between Arts Council England (ACE) and Channel 4, ‘Random Acts Network Centres’ will be established around the country, one in each of the five ACE areas. Led by an arts organisation in partnership with other cultural, educational and creative media organisations, each network will deliver education, training and production support for 16-24 year olds, leading to the creation of around 24 high-quality short films per year for distribution on Channel 4’s television and online platforms.
ACE plans to invest up to £3m in the three-year scheme, which aims to develop young talent and provide entry points into the arts and creative industries. Sir Peter Bazalgette, Chair of ACE said: “This is one of a number of Arts Council England’s strategies to distribute arts and culture digitally. We are committed to nurturing young talent and providing a platform for the next generation of filmmakers that enables their work to reach the widest possible audiences.” The scheme is open to applications until 25 September.
