Arts Council England (ACE) and the Local Government Association (LGA) have set out an agreement on how the two bodies will work together to “support local cultural offers that make life better for people in all of our communities.” Shared principles include a geographic approach to investing in culture, which will match publicly funded cultural provision with the needs of the location. The two organisations emphasise the need for culture to position itself as central to local commissioning conversations on issues ranging from the economy to health and young people. ACE and the LGA have also pledged to create a “single cultural conversation” in which the two bodies will be a unified, strategic voice when working with central government on arts related issues.
