Young people paint on a wall

Young people are inspired to learn about art and helped to develop cultural understanding and confidence through working with galleries, contemporary art and artists, according to a report, ‘Inspiring Learning in Galleries’, published by engage, the National Association for Gallery Education. The report details the ‘enquire’ programme, which is the largest systematic review in England to explore how children and young people can learn from the arts. One young participant at the Sainsbury Centre for the Visual Arts in Norwich said, “I’m not going to do that cheesy life-changing stuff, but it’s really, really great.” Some young people reported finding voluntary or paid work with galleries through participating in gallery-based projects.
