Adam Maidment meets two Jamaican trans activists showcasing their work at the UK’s largest trans art festival, Trans Vegas.

Among the sea of posters lining the streets to promote the latest McDonald’s menu additions or the recent government advice, there’s one poster in particular that is just demanding attention.

Wearing a grandiose garment alongside a striking headpiece, a person is seen boldly posing on the beach alongside the message “our presence is our resilience”.

The eye-catching picture is the work of photographer Lee Baxter and is one of four images to feature Kymm Kode and Emani Elori Edwards, two trans activists from Jamaica.

The pair have been chosen as the face of Trans Vegas, the UK’s largest trans art festival, which is set to return to Manchester next weekend.
