JATINDER VERMA is stepping down as Artistic Director and Co-founder of international touring company Tara Arts, after more than forty years since its beginnings as a community theatre group at Battersea Arts Centre. The first Asian or Black director at the National Theatre, Verma led the renovation of Tara’s home in south London to create Britain’s first multicultural theatre and, in 2017, he was awarded an MBE for services to diversity in the arts.
