SOPHIE ROSA has announced she will step down as leader of Sinfonia Viva at the end of the 2021/22 season.

Rosa, who leaves to concentrate on her career as a solo violinist, was appointed lead of the East Midlands' orchestra in 2019 and says it has been a pleasure to work with the team.

"The orchestra makes a huge difference to communities across the East Midlands with their fantastic concerts alongside outstanding education programmes and creative projects."

Chair of Trustees Tony Davis called Rosa a "talented and highly accomplished performer and orchestra leader who will be much missed".

Recruitment for a new leader will begin in the New Year.
