CIRA ROBINSON will take over as the Director of Yorkshire Ballet Seminars, the UK’s first residential dance summer school, in December.

She will succeed IAIN MACKAY after five years in the role.

Born in Cincinnati, Robinson began dancing at the age of eight. She graduated from the School for Creative and Performing Arts in 2004 and went on to spend three years at New York’s Dance Theatre of Harlem, during which time she performed at the White House.

She worked for 14 years as a dancer with Ballet Black in London and has been nominated for the Critics Circle National Dance Awards for both Best Female Dancer (2022) and Outstanding Female Performance (Classical) (2013). She has also taught regularly for Ballet Black Junior School and Yorkshire Ballet Seminars.

“Over the last 50 years, Yorkshire Ballet Seminars has helped to change thousands of lives around the world by introducing them to the transformative power and sheer joy of dance,” she said.

“Yorkshire Ballet Seminars has been a beacon of excellence, creativity, passion and inclusivity and my aim is to ensure that this continues long into the future.”
