HOLLY RACE ROUGHAN will be the first female Artistic Director of Headlong.

The theatre company this week announced the appointment of the director and producer, who co-created Signal Fires, a festival for touring companies, during the pandemic.

Race Roughan joined Headlong as Associate Artistic Director in 2019 and is board member of her former employer Kestrel Theatre Company, which provides arts opportunities in prisons.

She will begin leading Headlong Origins, a development programme for emerging theatre makers, when she assumes the role on August 23.
