HANNAH HARTLEY has been appointed as Manchester Museum’s first Environmental Action Manager.

The role will involve setting up and overseeing a new co-working hub for cultural environmental action, as well as driving forward the museum’s ambitions in environmental thinking.

Hartley is currently a trainee assessor for the A Greener Festival Awards scheme, a steering group member for the GMAST network, and a board member of Justice in Motion.

Her new role is partly funded by the Roots & Branches project, a £136,000 initiative aimed at scaling up carbon literacy training.

Hartley says she is thrilled to be joining Manchester Museum as it prepares to reopen next year.

“Building a more sustainable world has to be a collective effort and I am looking forward to working creatively and collaboratively with others to drive forward this important work to address the climate emergency.”
