MURIEL GRAY has announced she is stepping down as Chairwoman of Glasgow School of Art at the end of the month.

Gray, whose post was due to end in October 2022, leaves as an investigation into a 2018 fire at the school's Mackintosh building continues.

The broadcaster and writer was also Chair throughout the departure of former Director TOM INNIS. Leaked emails revealed Innis was sidelined before he left.

Gray said the school is now "in a considerably more positive place", having recently appointed new Director PENNY MACBETH.

“Having given this a great deal of consideration I believe that as I enter the final year of my third term as Chair, the time has come to introduce a fresh, energetic, and long-term committed person to the role who can take the GSA forward to the next exciting phase.”
