DCMS appoints two new non-executive board members

JUDE KELLY and JANET POPE have joined the Department for Culture, Media and Sport as non-executive board members.

Kelly is a former artistic director at the Southbank Centre, founder and former artistic director of the West Yorkshire Playhouse, now known as the Leeds Playhouse, and the founder and current head of global advisory of WOW – Women of the World.

A director of more than 200 theatre and opera productions, Kelly also led the culture programme for the 2012 Olympic Games in London.

Pope currently chairs the Charities Aid Foundation Bank and the Environment and Social Purpose Committee at Yorkshire Building Society. She recently retired from her role as chief of staff and chief sustainability officer at Lloyds Banking Group and is a current member of the Labour Party.

The pair began their three year terms on 23 April. Alongside sitting on the departmental board, Pope has also been appointed to the department’s audit and risk committee.
