Sarah Golding and Yukiko Masui

DanceEast has announced the selection of a new cohort of Associate Artists, who will collaborate closely with the organisation until April 2025.

The new Associate Artists are PARIS CROSSLEYCATHY WALLER, SARAH GOLDING and YUKIKO MASUI and LAURA ANDERSON and SARAH LEWIS.

They were selected after an open call for up to four solo artists or duos to collaborate with the organisation from April 2022 until April 2025.

Crossley is a movement artist specialising in Popping and also a member of Fiya House crew.

Waller created Cathy Waller Company in 2012. As a disabled artist, they work with creatives and organisations to help strip away access barriers and to support and champion diverse and disabled voices.

In 2019, Golding and Masui founded SAY, which was formed to develop their passion for “making up” dances to songs and new music.

Anderson and Lewis are recognised for working collaboratively with both professional and recreational dancers by hosting a “positive, playful” dance space.

“It has been a while since we assembled a new group of artists to work with us in this way,” said BRENDAN KEANEY, Artistic Director and CEO of DanceEast, adding that the pandemic interrupted their schedules.

“We work in a truly fantastic building, one of the best dance facilities in the country, however it is artists that bring it life, and I am aware that even before they were appointed, my colleagues and I have found the selection process to be inspiring.”

The Associate Artists will work regularly onsite at the Jerwood DanceHouse in Ipswich, taking part in creative professional development workshops, attending key organisational meetings and expanding networks through DanceEast’s community.
