Cornwall arts venue selects former ACE chief as chair
Hall for Cornwall (HfC) has announced ALAN DAVEY will become its new vice chair, joining the venue with immediate effect.
Chief executive of Arts Council England for seven years from 2007, Davey was awarded a CBE in 2015 for services to the arts.
From 2015 to 2023, he was controller of BBC Radio 3 and Classical Music, where he also sponsored the move of the BBC’s music studios to East Bank in Stratford.
Previously, he held posts as director for Culture at the Department for Culture, Media and Sport and at the then Department of National Heritage, where he worked on designing the National Lottery.
Chair of trustees, Lord HUTTON, said, “I welcome Alan’s significant experience in the creative industries and look forward to collaborating with him in our shared vision to reinforce the incredible impact that Hall for Cornwall has in the community.”
Davey added, “Hall for Cornwall is an amazing engine of creativity, working with partners to bring the world to Cornwall and to reflect Cornwall to the world. I am proud to deepen my association with the brilliant work and powerful bringing together and nurturing of talent that HfC represents.”
